Moray Interfaith Group aims to bring people together to encourage peaceful communication and support equal opportunities for minority groups in the county of Moray (northern Scotland). Our purpose is to enhance awareness of the diversity of individuals living in the area, and promote respectful understanding of each other's cultural traditions and spiritual practices.
Q. What is Interfaith? Why is it important?
The word 'Interfaith' is mostly used as a descriptive term for interactions between people of different spiritual and/or religious beliefs.
For example an 'Interfaith marriage' may signify the union of two people from different faiths, or may incorporate rituals from several faiths based on the beliefs of the individuals and their families.
'Interfaith dialogue' is a phrase commonly used to describe respectful communication between different faith groups for the purpose of promoting peace and understanding within communities and between nations.
Through events and activities, our intention is to encourage interfaith dialogue that supports individuals, fosters equality, promotes healthy, compassionate communication and creates opportunities for improving services in our local community.
Through understanding our differences we are able to deepen our respect for one another and build a caring community where all our needs are met and everyone feels equal. From there we are able to apply what we learn to our wider communities and set an example that encourages healthy attitudes and peaceful communication throughout the world.

Membership is free and open to individuals of all faiths and beliefs, as well as those with no religious affiliation. We aim to gather as regularly as possible in person, and when that's not possible we connect in Zoom.
We meet frequently (at least 4 times a year) to discuss interfaith activities, plan events and encourage supportive, inclusive dialogue between members. If you would like to contribute or have suggestions for community activities, we welcome everyone wishing to support the objectives of this group.

Helping to restore Scotland's native Caledonian forest.
In partnership with Trees For Life and with a small grant from Interfaith Scotland we have established the 'Moray Interfaith Growing Grove'. It's our way of declaring support for interfaith, whilst doing something positive for the environment and we welcome donations from individuals and groups who share this commitment.
From just £6 you can add one or more trees to the grove and have the option to include your name, organisation and a comment that enhances your support for this worthy cause.

Moray Interfaith Group is one of many independent regional groups that form a national collective under the banner of Interfaith Scotland.
